How South Carolina withholding works
State form: SC W-4.
South Carolina annualizes wages, subtracts $5,000 per allowance and a standard deduction of 10% of gross wages (capped at $7,500, and $0 if you claim no allowances), and applies the 0%/3%/6% withholding schedule. Note: those are the rates SCDOR actually uses for withholding — the lower 1.99%/5.21% return rates set by Act 110 were never adopted for withholding.
