How North Carolina withholding works
State form: NC-4.
North Carolina withholds at 4.09% — the 3.99% income tax rate plus the statutory 0.1% — on annualized pay after the standard deduction ($12,750 single or married; $19,125 head of household) and $2,500 per allowance, rounded to the nearest dollar. NC-30 publishes both a per-period percentage method and an annualized method; on ordinary wages they agree to the dollar.
