How Kansas withholding works
State form: K-4.
Kansas annualizes your pay, subtracts your allowance amount ($9,160 single, head of household, or married filing separately; $18,320 married filing jointly; plus $2,320 per dependent, and head-of-household filers may claim one more $2,320), then applies the annual withholding table for your status. The tables' zero bands ($3,605 / $8,240) already contain the effect of the standard deduction.
Current parameters
| method detail | Per-period percentage method (Tables 1-8 by pay frequency; Table 7 annual shown below) plus wage-bracket tables. Subtract the K-4 withholding allowance amount for the period, then apply the period table. Allowances are NON-UNIFORM: personal exemption $9,160 if single/head of household/married filing separate, $18,320 if married filing joint (two $9,160 exemptions); head of household may claim one additional $2,320 allowance; plus $2,320 per dependent. The statutory standard deduction is baked into the tables' zero band ($3,605 single / $8,240 married on the annual table) - there is no separate standard-deduction subtraction. No newer KW-100 edition exists; Rev. 10-24 remains in force for tax year 2026. |
